The first pari-mutuel slot facility in Miami-Dade County opened at 10 a.m. Thursday: Flagler Dog Track and Poker is now the Magic City Casino. The casino put in 700 slot machines.
Magic City Miami is also the home of the Flagler Dog Track, where greyhound races intended for betting take place regularly. The track is historical - it premiered more than 80 years ago and is still in constant use. The place features some entertainment events.
Magic City Casino features 800 Las Vegas-style slot machines, 25-table Poker Room, outdoor concert amphitheater, multi-purpose indoor venue, seasonal live action jai-alai, Burger Beast Burger Museum and multiple food and beverage outlets, among other.
These include Isle Casino at Pompano Park, Mardi Gras Casino at Hollywood Dog Track, Magic City Casino at Flagler Dog Track, Calder Casino and Race Course, and Gulfstream Casino and Race Course.

Isadore Havenick, vice president of the family owned West Flagler Associates, said Magic City had wanted to stop offering dog races in Miami because “nobody wants to watch them.” West Flagler Associates also operates a greyhound track in Southwest Florida and owns a 25 percent share of a jai alai fronton in Dania Beach.
